Keystone Exams
2025 Keystone Exam Schedule and Remote Learning Information for Grades 7–12
As part of Pennsylvania’s statewide assessment system, the Carlynton School District will administer the 2025 Keystone Exams in Algebra I, Literature, and Biology during the month of May. These end-of-course, standards-based exams are mandated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and serve both as a graduation requirement and as a tool for improving curriculum and instruction.
Purpose of the Keystone Exams
- Measure individual student proficiency in Algebra I, Literature, and Biology based on Pennsylvania’s academic standards.
- Help educators identify students who may benefit from additional academic support.
- Provide districts with data to inform school-wide instructional planning and curricular decisions.
Keystone Exam Testing Dates
The following exams will be administered at Carlynton Jr./Sr. High School:
- Literature Keystone Exam – Thursday, May 15, 2025
- Biology Keystone Exam – Friday, May 16, 2025
- Algebra I Keystone Exam – Tuesday, May 20, 2025
Important Change to Instructional Schedule for Grades 7–12
To ensure a quiet and secure testing environment and to meet PDE’s requirements for testing accommodations, Carlynton Jr./Sr. High School will operate on a remote learning schedule for students in grades 7–12 who are not participating in a Keystone Exam on the following dates:

Please note:
- Students in grades K–6 will follow their regular in-person schedule on all dates.
- Students scheduled to take a Keystone Exam should report to school as normal on their assigned testing day.
Electronic Device Policy
In accordance with PDE policy, students are prohibited from possessing electronic devices (including cell phones, smartwatches, and tablets) in the testing environment. Detailed information on this policy has been provided in the mailed correspondence and is also available by contacting the school office.
