Carnegie Renovations Project

Overview

The Carlynton School District is excited to share progress on the upcoming Carnegie Elementary School Renovation Project, a major investment in the future of our students, staff, and community. The project will modernize classrooms, enhance safety and accessibility, and create new learning spaces to support 21st-century education.

A key highlight of the renovation is the construction of a new cafetorium addition at the rear of the building. This multi-purpose space will serve as a cafeteria, auditorium, and community event center, providing students and residents with a flexible gathering area for school assemblies, performances, and local events. The cafetorium will also include additional restrooms to support community use during stadium events, improving accessibility and convenience for all visitors.

Construction is scheduled to begin in May 2026 and conclude by July 2027, transforming the Carnegie Elementary campus while maintaining a focus on student safety and continuity of learning.

Project Out to Bid September 17, 2025 Bid documents released to contractors.
Pre-Bid Meeting Held September 25, 2025, 3:30 PM Meeting held at Carnegie Elementary with prospective contractors to review project details and site conditions.
Bids Due October 21, 2025 Extended bid period to allow contractors additional time for review and submission.
Bid Review November 11, 2025 Bid evaluations presented to the Board during the Work Session.
Contract Award November 18, 2025 Board consideration and approval of construction contracts.
Notice to Proceed November 21, 2025 Official authorization for contractors to begin project planning.
Contractor Submittals January – May 2026 Detailed planning, scheduling, and coordination by selected contractors.
Construction Period May 25, 2026 – July 30, 2027

On-site construction and phased renovations.

 

In the event of construction delays, the District may consider a post-Labor Day start to the 2027–2028 school year if necessary.

To minimize disruption and maintain a safe environment, construction will occur in five major phases:

As the project progresses, the District will post regular updates, photos, and notices to this page to keep families and community members informed.
Updates will include:

  • Construction progress photos

  • Key milestones reached

  • Any schedule adjustments

  • Community impact notices (parking, access, etc.)
